Setup

1. Open the adventure book to the current chapter.
2. Perform any special setup instructions from the rulebook.
3. Place the replay counter with the Grandson's side up.
4. Place Challenge Completed counters to the right of the book.
5. Give each player a Reference card.

Card Decks

1. Shuffle the Plot deck and place it to the left of the book.
2. If starting a new game:
   • Shuffle the Special cards and Story deck separately.
   If resuming: see Bookmarking Your Game (p. 6).
3. Place the Story deck above the book.
4. Place the Special deck to the right of the book.

Begin Game

Objectives

WIN: Complete all challenges for all chapters.

LOSE: Be interrupted or defeated twice in the same chapter.

• Interrupted - ran out of Plot cards.
• Defeated - met the chapter's conditions for defeat.

Bookmarking Between Chapters

The game can be saved between chapters:

• Shuffle player hands and the Story discard pile back into the Story deck.
• Store unused Miracles with the Story deck.
• When resuming, follow normal setup but do not separate the Story deck.
